What is Ketosis? And Is ketosis is good or bad?

 What is Ketosis?

They say it's 80% of nutritional diet and the remaining 20 of exercise if you want to lose that jiggly jelly belly-fat. However, Ketosis can not only help you lose the lovely love-handles, but studies suggest how this natural, adaptive measure of our body can help you stay fit. So, as long as you play by the rules, this can be just the thing for you to live healthily with minimal efforts.

Now, step by step, let's get this bread (without carbs).

What Ketosis Meaning?

Ketosis is in essence a process that your body adopts when it can't find enough carbohydrates to burn as fuel for your body. For more energy, our body burns the fat it had stored in all those wrong places. If only our bodies cared about how the face fat isn't exactly endearing. But hey, It's doing a great job at keeping us alive so let's be a bit more grateful.

It's inherently a survival mechanism, where our body can live off the stored body fat, in case we're stuck on an isolated island or in a dessert. I mean desert. I'm just hungry. As the chances of you accompanying Bear Grylls are slimmer than you, we can use this mechanism with good health being both the means and the end.

What should be Ketosis diet plan?

So here's the plan potato. Mostly, you should stay away from potatoes. By that we mean Carbs. Keep track of your daily carbs-intake without compromising on essential vitamins, minerals, protein and not even fat. And no, it doesn't mean that you should starve yourself. Gradually reduce the carbs from your meals and aim at eating less than 50 grams of carbs per day. High fat and moderate protein diet with very low carbs qualifies as a ketogenic or keto-diet. For a healthy adult, your meal should have about 75% of fat that will replace the carbs and about 10-30% protein with carbs being only around 5%. Eggs, nuts and seeds, healthy fats, avocados, non-starchy vegetables are Keto-friendly. Ketosis fasting is also a viable option to look up. However, this diet is a no-no for people with diabetes or a child on its way.

What are Symptoms of Ketosis?

These dietary changes will obviously make themselves noticed. The effects will be visible in 2-3 days. The first week is the hardest as your body begins to get accustomed to the new juice. The reasons are allegedly sugar and carbs withdrawal ; changes to gut bacteria and/or the immune system. Temporarily, headache, Fatigue, fussiness, Nausea and those sweet sugar cravings might kick in. Keep yourself hydrated to stay in a better position. Don't be too harsh on yourself and if you do not feel fine, get in touch with your doctor.

Is Ketosis bad?

Now let's address the elephant in this room (not a fat joke). The answer is a diplomatic one. It depends and it is a debatable hot-topic. Studies have shown that Keto-diet helps in reducing seizures in children, marks for a steady speedy weight loss and improves blood sugar control. On the other hand, it has been suggested that the effects are not long lasting. The truth is that long-term research hasn't been conducted yet and other than the known benefits and risks, nothing can be said as a matter of fact.

What are Ketosis benefits?

If you are a fighter and you safely get to the other side, then voila, there's no monster for you to fight. The sugar-free sweet taste of the raindrops of benefits is waiting for you.

While weight loss is the main goal of people on this diet, research suggests that the risk of heart diseases might go down if you're on this magic diet. The magic continues to help diseases like Insulin resistance, Metabolic syndrome and the Type 2 Diabetes.
